After a big upturn when Harry Wheeler returned, the pre-season promotion tips have now lost their last four.
Saturday’s home defeat to struggling Hungerford Town was the most galling - going down 2-1 having been ahead heading into the 87th minute.
Player-coach O’Hara says that just wasn’t good enough and told his players there is no hiding place.
Now only a single point is keeping the Essex club in the top seven as they chase a second promotion on the bounce.
“It was a shocking performance,” said O’Hara. “We’re not happy with at all and it’s back to the drawing board.
“As a group of players, everyone was off it. There were too many excuses out there and at this level you can’t make excuses.
“The standards we have set as a team and as a club, it was nowhere near good enough.
“It was a poor first half. We didn’t really create much in the second half, got a penalty and didn’t see out the game.
“The gaffer and I obviously want to back the boys but there are no excuses and it was nowhere near what we expect.”
Next up for Billericay is Saturday’s visit to Dulwich Hamlet.
