There's A Semi-Final Re-Run As Sutton Hope For Better

You could understand if Sutton United and their manager Paul Doswell wanted to settle a score later tonight.

Back in May, Boreham Wood well and truly broke their hearts.

With home advantage, the U’s were favourites in the National League play-off semi-final with the EFL just 90 minutes away for the winner.

It just wasn’t their day, and a dramatic 3-2 win saw Wood reach Wembley - and not them.

They meet again tonight, a game put back because of the pair’s Irn-Bru Cup commitments earlier this month.

Dowsell says it isn’t about setting the record straight, it’s about making sure they have the chance to be in the mix once again come the business end of the season.

Doswell said: “We’re enjoying another good season. We’re currently in the play-off places despite not playing as many games as the others and the Boreham Wood match is about putting pressure on the teams above us.

“We go into the game following a great result down at Havant, it was an important three points for us.

“We controlled the game and scored two very well-worked goals. Now we want to carry that on into Tuesday, which will be another difficult game against a side doing well at the moment.”
