Manager Kevin Wilkin is delighted with his club’s start to the season - even if they are without a win in their last four.
This weekend it’s FA Cup duty and his side travel to Bostik League Kingstonian, who groundshare at Leatherhead, hoping to start a repeat of last year’s great run.
Brackley beat League One Gillingham last year and it’s about to start it all over again.
He said: “We all know what happened last year and it was fantastic. The FA Cup was brilliant for the club and it’s played a part in our good start this year.
“It helped the club get noticed and people were buying into it. Now we want to have another go.
“We’ve progressed well and although we are going through a less productive period of results we are happy with our start.
“This is a huge league. There are a number of full-time clubs in it and we’re not one of those. We are unlikely to do that until we reach the National League, if we’re lucky enough to get there one day.
“If we do, we’ll take a view then. We have to do what best fits for the club, we don’t want to run before we can walk.
“I have personal experience of going up and not turning full-time at Nuneaton. We paid the price then, but you can’t overstretch yourself as a club.”
He added: “That’s some way in the future. We’re now fully focused on the FA Cup and we know Kingstonian will be looking to caused an upset against a club who pulled a few off last time around.
“We will need to be on top of our game. It will be a challenge for the team down there.”
