There's A Big Night Of National League Action Ahead!

By Sam Elliott

Saturday saw 2021 start in style - now the second instalment of matches are sharply on the horizon.

Tuesday sees eight games coming from across the three divisions and there’s some important points to play for.

Two National League fixtures are heading our way, and Chesterfield started the new year just like they ended the last.

Under James Rowe the Spireites are sparkling - 13 points from a possible 15 for the new manager underlines the great start he has enjoyed.

They go to Solihull Moors in midweek. They have won five from six at home, letting in just two goals.

Yeovil started 2021 by forcing a tough 2020 out of their minds - the Glovers’ late, great show buried leaders and rivals Torquay United on Saturday.

Now they face another grudge match at Weymouth, who are certainly improving even if they aren’t managing to win matches.

Many of those sides chasing promotion in the National League North are in action.

Leaders Gloucester City aren’t - and those chasing hope to up the heat.

Chester are in form and three points at home to Guiseley will close the gap while there is a huge match in store at Aggborough - Kidderminster, in second, welcome York City with Steve Watson knowing three points really keeps the Minstermen in the hunt.

Boston United are also on 21 points and the Pilgrims take on Kettering Town, while Darlington make the long trip to Brackley.

Could the National League South have new leaders by 10pm on Tuesday night?

Dartford will take over if they secure three points against Tonbridge Angels, who will be fresh after an extended break from league action.

Should they not win, then Dorking Wanderers will go top with a victory.

Ebbsfleet United will have something to say about that but the Fleet haven’t scored in their last four outings.

In Wednesday's sole clash, Oxford City will move to within a point of the play-offs win a win away to struggling Billericay Town.
