It’s matchday 14 in the National League as the intriguing battle at both ends of the table continues.
We start our look ahead to the weekend action with the leaders, Leyton Orient know their unbeaten run is about to be severely tested.
They face a visit from Sutton United - but which U’s side will show up? If it’s the one who thrashed Wrexham last Saturday they have a good chance in E10, but they will be breakfast for Orient if they give goals to their opposition like they did in recent games against Dover and Boreham Wood.
Salford City’s impressive climb up the table has been quite ominous.
It’s ten undefeated now as they are seriously getting to grips with the demands of the National League.
But this will be a big test, away to Maidenhead United at a ground were reputation counts for very little.
Harrogate Town have taken only one point from six and Boreham Wood away is not where they would pick to try and start another winning run.
Wrexham look like they will need to be extra strong at the Racecourse this season if they are to mount a challenge.
After a one-point return from their last two games, they host Barnet who are having a wobble since finding their feet.
Gateshead and Eastleigh have both found form - two wins in a row each has raised spirits. They meet in the North East this weekend and something needs to give.
Hartlepool United “will bounce back” from their 3-0 loss at Salford, a result which manager Matthew Bates knows was unkind to his team. Aldershot arrive on Saturday still scrambling for points after a slow start.
Dover Athletic moved off the bottom on Tuesday night and their fight to get out of the relegation zone will grow legs if they can beat Barrow at the Crabble.
Chesterfield are in crisis and Martin Allen is in desperate need of three points but they visit a Maidstone United side who have won their last two under new boss Harry Wheeler.
Solihull Moors are fifth on merit according to Tim Flowers.
Three more points at Havant & Waterlooville could bring them even closer to top spot, while the Hawks - despite two good draws in their last two games - are winless in five.
Ebbsfleet’s barren spell is six games, but they will be pleased to get back on the road. A visit to Dagenham, who have lost back-to-back games, needs to spark the Fleet into life.
Bromley and FC Halifax have both been shy of consistency in September. They end the month by meeting at Hayes Lane.
Braintree are back at the bottom of the table but Fylde haven’t been the freescorers they were last year. One of the two clubs needs to make a statement on Saturday.
