The Weekend Starts Here! So What's In Store On Saturday?

By Sam Elliott

By the end of the Bank Holiday weekend, we’ll already be seven games into the National League season.

Of course they’ll tell us it’s just a start but anyone still sitting pretty by Monday night will fancy their chances of staying the course.

They may no longer be the only club yet to let in a goal but Wrexham are on the rampage and fans really think this could be their year.

A home game with Bromley on Saturday offers the opportunity to add to the feel-good factor. Can a good start turn into a very good one over the next few days?

Salford City have “got into their heads” what the National League is all about according to manager Graham Alexander.

They’re on a roll now with two big victories over FC Halifax and Chesterfield.

But they’re taking a trip to a Havant & Waterloovillewho have scored seven times in their last two matches, including twice in time added on at Braintree to secure a stunning first win.

But the game of the day perhaps comes from Gander Green Lane as Sutton United, in fourth, take on third place AFC Fylde. Both are on 11 points and a win could take either to the top if results are kind.

FC Halifax in second go to Boreham Wood hoping the home side’s lack of goals continues.

The two relegated Football League clubs cross swords as Chesterfield’s Martin Allen takes on the club he has managed no fewer than four times, Barnet.

The BT Sport live game is first up, Maidenhead host Maidstone United looking for their first win. Chairman Peter Griffin has told us the club are relaxed about their poor start. Read his interview here.

Leyton Orient have upped the tempo. They drew their first three games but back-to-back wins has given Justin Edinburgh a big boost. They go to Gateshead, where they impressed last season, pictured.

Barrow host Braintree looking for another home victory, while Dover and Eastleigh meet on the Kent coast looking for new life in an inconsistent start.

There’s an interesting game in store as slow startersAldershot Town head to Ebbsfleet, who responded perfectly to manager Daryl McMahon’s complaints that their finishing needed to be much better with a comprehensive 3-0 win at Barnet last weekend.

Harrogate are unbeaten but Solihull Moors have started strongly and with new investment on board confidence is high, while struggling Dagenham need points at home to Hartlepool.

National League fixtures:
Maidenhead v Maidstone (12.35pm, BT Sport)
Barrow v Braintree
Boreham Wood v FC Halifax

Dagenham v Hartlepool
Dover v Eastleigh
Ebbsfleet v Aldershot
