Only in the second half of April is the word permutations ever really spoken, so we’re making the most of it ahead of the penultimate weekend of the season with a complete run-down of what could happen.
The Dragons need only match Notts County’s result this weekend to announce themselves as National League champions.
A win over Boreham Wood in the live BT Sport game and that’s that - but it's hardly like we haven't sampled a few twists and turns this season.
Phil Parkinson knows his players can handle the pressure and has called for one last big effort at a packed out Racecourse, with live coverage underway at 6pm.
“It would mean so much because of what the club's been through and the pain of 15 years in this division,” he said. "We all know what it means and there's a real determination from us all to give it absolutely everything we've got at the weekend.
They just need one more win, that much is clear.
But what about the other matters that can be settled across the three National League divisions this weekend? Let’s take a look…
National League championship
Wrexham will win the title if they match or better Notts County’s result. If Wrexham beat Boreham Wood, they are champions.
National League top three
Chesterfield will secure a top three finish, avoiding the Eliminators, if they beat Bromley and Woking draw or lose at home to Gateshead.
National League play-offs
Boreham Wood will confirm a play-off place if they defeat Wrexham. A point would be enough for the Wood to confirm top seven if Eastleigh lose to Solihull Moors. Bromley will confirm their place if they beat Chesterfield and Eastleigh don’t win against Solihull Moors.
National League relegation
Torquay United will be relegated if they lose to Altrincham, and if Maidenhead United and York City both avoid defeat. Aldershot Town will be all but safe if they avoid defeat to York City.
National League North championship
One point separates leaders King’s Lynn and AFC Fylde but it can’t be won this weekend with the Coasters’ game in hand on Tuesday.
National League North top three
The top three is confirmed with Chester joining either AFC Fylde and King’s Lynn Town.
National League North play-offs
Brackley Town will confirm their place if they win against Buxton. Scarborough need a lot to go their way but will do the same if they defeat AFC Telford and Darlington, Buxton, Chorley and Kidderminster don’t win.
National League North relegation
Bradford PA will go down if they fail to beat Hereford and Blyth Spartans win at Alfreton. Leamington will also go down if they drop points at AFC Fylde, and Farsley and Blyth Spartans both win. Farsley cannot be relegated this weekend.
National League South championship
We already know Ebbsfleet United are this season’s champions.
National League South top three
Dartford will claim a top three place if they win against St Albans City and Oxford City and Chelmsford drop points. Oxford can’t mathematically secure theirs, but if they win and Chelmsford City lose it will need a huge final day swing to deny them.
National League South play-offs
St Albans and Worthing will clinch their places if they win this weekend. Braintree will confirm their play-off spot if they defeat Eastbourne Borough, and Havant & Waterlooville fail to win against Oxford City.
National League South relegation
Weymouth will be relegated if they lose to Slough Town. A draw is not enough if Dulwich pick up a point at Hungerford - even a win could see them relegated if Dulwich also pick up three points. Hungerford will go down if they don’t win that game. Cheshunt will sink if they lose to Bath City and Hamlet don’t lose.
