The Team Of Tuesday: Vanarama National League

By Sam Elliott

Following another eventful round of National League matches yesterday, duty calls - we’ve selected our Team Of Tuesday Night.

Liaising with all our colleagues around the grounds, we’ve come up with the best side last night could muster.

Of course, losing two games didn’t help with the selection process.

A power outage at Bromley just before kick-off cancelled their game with Aldershot, while heavy rain put paid to AFC Fylde vs Guiseley.

As ever, we want you to join the debate - keep up to date on twitter by following us on @TheNationalLge

Well done to our super squad of 16 who have made it into the team of the day..

Goalkeeper: Mark Cousins (Dagenham)
To beat the league leaders you invariably needed a top class performance from your goalkeeper. The Daggers got one.

Defence: Sean McGinty (Torquay)
Captain for the night and a driving force behind the Gulls’ coupon-busting result at Sutton United.

Defence: Richard Orlu (Woking)
Assisted Woking’s winner against Ebbsfleet United with a great pass - and kept a valuable clean sheet to boot.

Defence: Sean Pearson (Wrexham)
The signing of the summer? Quite possibly. Solihull’s speedy attack just couldn’t get any change out of the centre half.

Defence: Kane Smith (Boreham Wood)
Wood gave the full-back the chance to step up from Southern League Hitchin and he is taking it. A great goal got them up and running.

Midfield: Harry Panayiotou (Barrow)
What a run the Bluebirds are on under Ady Pennock - the midfielder scored and performance superbly at in-form Gateshead

Midfield: Paul Rutherford (Wrexham)
Two Dragons made the team. A winning goal on his 400th appearance means the 30-year-old is a must-include.

Midfield: Nicky Deverdics (Hartlepool)
Returning to the National League have previously done so well with Dover, Deverdics is showing his quality again at this level. A big part of Pools’ 4-0 win against Halifax and a goal, too.

Midfield: Jobi McAnuff (Leyton Orient)
Stepped up to the plate when it really mattered. The veteran’s sublime equaliser from 25 yards kept Orient out of the bottom four last night.

Striker: Dan Holman (Boreham Wood)
In without any doubt the result of the night, his brace secured an emphatic 4-0 win over Maidstone. Watch out Coventry City in the FA Cup!

Striker: Morgan Ferrier (Dagenham)

The foerward;s display against league leaders Dover was about so much more than his winning goal. Showed energy, pace and power.

Substitutes:
Sam Mason (Woking)
Louis Laing (Hartlepool)
Tyrone Marsh (Macclesfield)
Ruairi Keating (Torquay United)
Byron Harrison (Barrow)

Where next?

Change Of Ownership At North Ferriby United Steve and Eman Forster who have owned the Villagers for four years announce they have transferred the club to a new person.
Davies: Top Of The Table Wrexham Won't Get Carried Away Wrexham's assistant Andy Davies applauded the squad for climbing to first but knows the work is far from done.
