The Same Old Story For Mellon's Draw Specialist Latics

Micky Mellon says it is hard to be too annoyed when his side aren’t losing matches but accepts the cycle of 1-1 draws needs to end soon.

A fifth National League match in six ended with that scoreline for Oldham Athletic at FC Halifax Town last night.

The Latics have only lost once and have conceded more than one goal on a single occasion so far - but now they’re without victory since matchday two.

Supporters are not satisfied with the team winless in six following the side’s flat end to the last campaign.

Mellon knows 2024 hasn’t been a good year but sees plenty of positives - mainly that his team are very hard to beat.

"I'm frustrated, but we're not losing,” the Scot told the OldhamTimes following their latest one-point return on Tuesday.

"We drew a lot of games last season, but we're certainly setting up to try to win every game.

“Don't for one minute don't think I'm not wanting a team that's front foot and scores goals. That’s what we all want.

“We want to be a team that's on the front foot, that tries to win. I'm happy with the way that we battled and kept going.”

Oldham are looking to break that sequence on Saturday when they travel to Woking before home matches with Yeovil Town and Forest Green Rovers.
