The Big Games Don't Stop Coming For Brackley Town

Harrogate Town away last Saturday, a trip to Salford City this weekend. Brackley Town’s Kev Wilkin must be wondering who he’s upset!

But the manager of the Vanarama National League North leaders can’t get enough of these big matches - and knows all too well it’s the nature of the beast.

Wilkin takes his team to Moor Lane tomorrow accepting of the challenge of what’s ahead.

He said: “That’s the thing with this league, every single week you get great games. Look at the last week.

“Last Saturday it was 1st v 2nd, Tuesday it was 1st v 3rd and tomorrow it’s 1st v 3rd again. Talk about entertainment! It’s no wonder why people talk so highly about this league. We’re delighted to be a part of it.

“We’re really happy with what we’ve done so far. I don’t think many people would have thought we’d be up there but we’re enjoying it. Even at this early stage to be top is a really positive thing.”

A trip to Salford City should provide clues to if Brackley can stay the course.

“They were the bookies’ favourites before a ball was kicked and I think they still are,” Wilkin, the former Wrexham manager, said.

“Are Salford my favourites? Well, all I’ll say is that you don’t see many poor bookies! They rarely get it badly wrong, do they?

“Salford have put together a really good side and I don’t think many teams will beat them this year but if we play to our maximum, who knows?

“Maybe it will be a bit of an indicator for us, maybe it won’t. We have just got to go to Salford, play our hearts out and see where it takes us. There’s no fear, just go there and play our game.

“It’s been a very exciting start to the season and hopefully we can keep that going.”
