The Bank Holiday Weekend Begins With Goals Aplenty!

Part one of the Bank Holiday double bill certainly produced as the new season really starts to take shape.

Saturday kicked off with Gateshead storming to the top as they beat Yeovil Town in the early kick-off. Goals from Jacob Butterfield, Brandon Haunstrup and Luke Hannant took them there.

Well, for a few hours at least. Eastleigh regained control with a 1-0 win at Altrincham - Chris Maguire’s penalty the difference.

James Henry was at the double as Aldershot Town thrashed Oldham Athletic 4-1. Manager’s son Theo Widdrington also scored.

Barnet won for a third game in a row. Harry Chapman and Mark Shelton found the net as Southend United were downed in front of their impressive away following.

Sutton United and York City are both unbeaten. Lenell John-Lewis made it 2-2 for the Minstermen with return home with a valuable point.

Woking eased to the points at Ebbsfleet United. Max Dyche, Charley Kendall and Matt Ward all scored.

There were two goalless draws. Rochdale and Forest Green fired blanks and so did AFC Fylde and Maidenhead, who claimed their first point of the new campaign.

Bradley Stevenson earns Solihull Moors a point at home to Braintree Town as Manny Dieseruvwe scored a 98th minute equaliser as Hartlepool United broke Wealdstone hearts.

The two promoted side from National League North drew 1-1. Chris Wreh coming up with the goods late as Tamworth pegged back Boston United.

The Bank Holiday football festival actually kicked off on Friday night as FC Halifax bit back to take a point from their trip to Dagenham.

Josh Rees gave the hosts the lead before Andrew Oluwabori broke through seven minutes from time for Chris Millington’s men.

There were four sides sitting on 100% sides in the National League North before today.

But now there are none after a day of shocks.

Kole Hall earned Chorley a point at Scunthorpe United, who have ten points from a possible 12. Mikey O’Neill ended Kidderminster’s brilliant run as Warrington stunned Phil Brown.

Brackley Town were brilliant as they took apart Curzon Ashton who had won all their three games before. It ended 4-0.

The other flawless side were Buxton but Ryan Fryatt and Peterborough Sports saw that great form ended.

Scarborough Athletic have had a great start and they beat Farsley 2-1. Harry Green grabbed the winner.

Elsewhere there were big wins for South Shields, King’s Lynn. Darlington, Hereford and Rushall Olympic.

There’s no teams with a perfect National League South record either.

Farnborough fell and how - Welling United swept them aside 4-1 and they lost top spot in the process.

Boreham Wood take over, a 3-0 win against Weymouth was earned in part by a Junior Dixon double.

Slough Town are second after a great start. Player manager Scott Davies scored as the Rebels won 2-1 against Hornchurch.

Torquay United defeated Dorking Wanderers in a big early season encounter - the winner arrived from Lirak Hasani after 55 minutes.

Tyler Harvey scored twice as Truro City turned it around against Enfield. Chelmsford City’s sticky start continued at Weston, who won 2-0.

Chesham grabbed their first win. Nathan Minhas bagged a double as they saw to St Albans City.

Elsewhere there was a winning start to the weekend for Hampton against Salisbury and for Eastbourne at home to Aveley.
