Thaw Sets In And That Means Some Football's Back!

By Sam Elliott

The thaw is well under way, in the south at least, and it looks certain that tonight we will see somes matches take place.

The same can’t be said in parts of the north it seems, and we have already lost a match due to a frozen pitch.

The National League North game between Curzon Ashton and Gainsborough Trinity will have to find a new date with conditions not yet conducive to football.

But in the National League South, it’s certainly a different story.

We have two big games scheduled as play-off chasers collide in one, and sides looking to avoid the drop come together in the other.

In north west London, Wealdstone know they are entering last chance saloon if the FA Trophy semi-finalists are going to burst into the play-offs.

They face a Welling United side who have achieved more than most people thought. In trouble after a few months of the season, Jamie Coyle has turned it around and a win tonight takes them into the top seven.

After it passed the pitch inspection, Chippenham Town travel to Gloucester City - and it’s a big opportunity for both clubs.

Neither are clear of trouble and the Bluebirds in particular are just a place above the drop zone.

The Tigers are in great form - three points tonight in Evesham if the game goes ahead will all-but confirm safety.
