Terras Pick Feeney To Try And Turn Their Season Around

Weymouth believe Warren Feeney is the man to give the club a fighting chance of National League South survival.

The former Northern Ireland international had been named the Terras’ new manager, replacing Mark Molesey who left his role earlier this month.

The Dorset club are in a precarious position, rooted to the bottom of the table with just 12 points from their first 20 games.

Chairman Paul Maitland says they are committed to “achieving success sustainably” - and say Feeney was the stand-out candidate following three weeks of interviews.

He has a track record of pull off escape acts in the division.

Feeney, the 43-year-old former AFC Bournemouth and Plymouth Argyle striker, managed Welling United until the summer of 2023, keeping the Wings up.

Maitland said the club's board of directors were "overwhelmingly in favour" of appointing Feeney, who was selected from six interviewed candidates.

He said: "Our primary mission is to remain in the National League South, and the board will support Warren in every possible way to achieve this goal.

"Looking beyond survival, our medium-term objective is for Weymouth Football Club to once again compete for league titles and push for promotion."
