There was plenty of important of results in the Vanarama National League North, but which players really stood out?

Drama was high during the past few days with a number of sides at the bottom picking up valuable wins, writes Tom Feaheny.

But who were the players that made it all happen?

As we do every week, we get on the phone to club officials, reporters and managers to gage their views on the weekend’s best - and build a squad of 16.

Here is what we’ve come up with following Saturday’s National League North games.

National League North team of the weekend

Goalkeeper: Tony Breeden (Leamigton)
A clean sheet for the keeper who proved his importance to the Brakes, with a vital stop from the spot as well.

Defence: Luke Shiels (Alfreton Town)
Leadership and communication from the defender helped with their draw at York City.

Defence: Josh Heaton (Darlington)
The defender is selected after he put his body on the line to help Darlo get the home win.

Defence: Shane Sutton (AFC Telford United)
A captains performance, with some key tackles thrown in by Sutton.

Defence: Tom Allan (Alfreton Town)
A goal, some key tackles means it is a worthy inclusion in the team of the weekend.

Defence: Andy Teague (Chorley)
The skipper led the line well and helped push the side forward with some key interceptions.

Midfield: Lewis Collins (North Ferriby United)
Not the worst debut going for the midfielder who was pushed forward and scored and could have got another late on.

Midfield: George Green (Nuneaton Town)
The ex Bradford City and Everton youngster is making a big impression at Nuneaton Town with a strong and creative display.

Striker: Jason Gilchrist (Southport)
He just can't stop scoring can he? Gilchrist took his goal well and could have got another as well.

Striker: Stephen Thompson (Darlington)
A late winner and a strong performance by the forward who keeps on impressing.

Striker: Daniel Udoh (Leamigton)
Another goal from Udoh who led the line well and helped the side beat Blyth Spartans.
