So for one final time this season, we’ve disturbed the managers, club officials and reporters at the gmaes to get all the information we require to get down to work.
The Team of the Weekend signs off for the season and we’ve been delighted to help showcase the talent of so many over the past nine months.
We’ve selected the stand out 11 players and named five substitutes from the final day of the Vanarama National League South campaign.
But as we all know, football is the sport not everyone agrees on all the time!
Why not join the debate on twitter @TheNationalLge following what was a tense and dramatic last day of the season.
National League South Team of the Weekend
Goalkeeper: Jared Thompson (Chippenham Town)
Produced an untold amount of time fine saves to keep Welling United out and earn a final day three points for the Bluebirds.
Defender: Ian Herring (Hungerford)
The player manager led by example. The Crusaders’ 1-0 victory over East Thurrock United means they retain their National League South status. Captain.
Defender: Josh Hill (Braintree)
A wonder goal rubber stamped the Iron’s play-off place - Hill has come into his own at Cressing Road.
Defender: Eddie Oshodi (Wealdstone)
They call him Steady Eddie for a reason. The Stones defender stood out as Wealdstone ended an overall disappointing league campaign with a win at Whitehawk.
Midfielder: Jarrod Welch (Weston)
He’s come on strong at the end of the season and was the best player on the park as the Seagulls saw a way past Hemel Hempstead.
Midfielder: Wes Fogden (Havant & W)
He will light up the National League next season. Little doubt that the little midfielder deserves his winners’ medal.
Midfielder: Steve Devlin (Poole Town)
The Dolphins go down but this man gave them hope right until the death. It wasn’t to be, but Tom Killick will be desperate for him to stay on in the Southern League.
Midfielder: Lee Noble (Dartford)
He gave it his all at Bognor but ultimately it wasn’t quite enough for the Darts, who now face the play-offs but at least go in as the country’s form side.
Reece Grant (Braintree)
Two goals to clinch a top seven place was the perfect way for the forward to warm up for the play-offs on Wednesday night.
Jason Prior (Havant & W)
Talk about composure. Prior kept his cool to slot home the goal which created history for Havant & Waterlooville and got the party started.
Scott Fenwick (Chelmsford City)
Is there a striker in better form anywhere at the minute? Another two goals to add to the tally were scored at Eastbourne.
Substitutes:
Nicholas Bignall (Hungerford Town)
Jonathan Giles (Chelmsford City)
Carl Pettefer (Poole Town)
Theo Lewis (Havant & W)
Antoine Semenyo (Bath City)
