Dartford and Havant are still going at it, while it’s now between Braintree, Welling, St Albans and Truro City to see who gets the last two top seven places. Poole Town v Hungerford at the bottom has become very, very interesting all of a sudden.
Now it’s our job to pick out the players who performed the best and honour them with a a place in our Team of the Weekend.
We tap into our contract up and down the country to make sure we select the squad of 16 who were the weekend’s big achievers.
What do you think of the team we have pieced together from Saturday’s matches?
Let us know if you think we’ve missed out on someone special and join the debate on twitter @TheNationalLge
The National League South Team of the Weekend:
Goalkeeper: Laurie Walker (Hemel Hempstead)
It’s not often a goalkeeper stars when you win 3-0 but Walker pulled off a number of top level saves against Eastbourne.
Defender: Charlie Wassmer (Hampton & RB)
A goal and a 9/10 rating against St Albans City. If he plays like this in the play-offs Hampton have a great chance. Captain.
Defender: Jack Parkinson (Welling United)
Welling needed that. Parkinson scored in the 3-1 win over Weston but the play-offs remain a long shot.
Defender: Jordan Gibbons (Whitehawk)
If only the Hawks has this team in August. Gibbons was a key part of a defence which didn’t make any mistakes at Hungerford.
Midfielder: Ben Wyatt (Braintree Town)
Scored and was Man of the Match as the Iron won a crucial match at Truro City to jump up into the play-offs.
Midfielder: Brian Stock (Havant & Waterlooville)
Many were predicting dropped points for Havant at a very much in-form Chelmsford City but not while this man’s around. Outstanding.
Midfielder: Elliot Bradbrook (Dartford)
He’s got all the experience you need to win the title and he’s taken the club up before. On Saturday he played a crucial role as they overcame Bath City.
Midfielder: Steve Devlin (Poole Town)
Suddenly Poole have hope from somewhere. Devlin’s goal in the 1-0 win at Concord Rangers has put the cat amongst the pigeons.
Striker: David Pratt (Wealdstone)
Two goals against his former club Chippenham in the 4-4 draw made it an emotional day for the striker.
Striker: Andy Sandell (Chippenham)
Anything David Pratt can do…. His former strike partner went one better and found the net three times in north west London.
Striker: Matt Paterson (Oxford City)
His double against doomed Bognor Regis took him to 21 for the season. Always such a danger.
Substitute:
Robbie Cundy (Gloucester City)
Spencer McCall (Hemel Hempstead)
Wes Fogden (Havant & Waterlooville)
Tauren Roberts (Hampton & RB)
Rob Sinclair (Oxford City)
