We’ve been hard at work selecting our Team of the Weekend following an important day in the division.
Six games, but no shortage of action. There was a lot at stake - including a match which saw the joint leaders go head-to-head.
We have done away with a traditional 4-4-2 - and handed the captain’s armband to a player who did something special.
We’ve been in conversation with reporters, managers and club officials to piece together a squad of 16.
But we can’t be at all the games - did you see a player who should have made it in? If so, you’ll find us on twitter @TheNationalLge so make your voice heard!
National League South Team of the Weekend:
Goalkeeper: Deren Ibrahim (Dartford)
Pulled off some top saves against a Havant side who certainly know where the net is.
Defence: Charlie Wassmer (Hampton & RB)
Another game, another goal! Few defenders will have Wassmer’s goal record - he’s looking at double figures!
Defence: Danny Harris (Dartford)
Harris was outstanding as the Darts held firm to get one over a huge title rival.
Defence: Joseph Ellul (Braintree Town)
He’s a regular in our Team of the Weekend and another gutsy display for the Iron against Chippenham means it’s three in five weeks. No appearance bonus, sadly!
Midfield: Ross Stern (Bath City)
A goal and a dazzling display at Chelmsford. Looks to be getting back to his Sutton United best.
Midfield: Simon Mensah (Whitehawk)
What a few weeks for Whitehawk. Mensah inspired the Hawks’ latest win at Oxford City - they’re on the up.
Midfield: Brendan Kiernan (Hampton & RB)
The Beavers unbeaten run goes on and on and on. Kiernan was in form as they won at Eastbourne Borough.
Midfield: Frankie Artus (Bath City)
The Romans are really improving under Jerry Gill and Artus’ form has helped their climb up the table.
Midfield: Tom Murphy (Dartford)
Scoring the winner in the biggest game of the season means only one thing - he can take the armband!
Striker: Nick Bignall (Hungerford Town)
Hungerford have now won four games out of six and Bignall scored and was MOTM as they secured a great win at Hemel Hempstead.
Striker: Gold Omotayo (Whitehawk)
The headline writers’ dream is being talked about regarding a full-time move. We won’t bother with the puns.
Substitutes:
Jake Jackson (Chippenham)
Lloyd Dawes (Eastbourne)
Luke Hopper (Hungerford Town)
Tom Hitchcock (Chelmsford City)
Philip Roberts (Braintree Town)
