Team Of The Weekend: National League South

By Sam Elliott

Last but certainly not least is the National League South Team of the Weekend.

It wasn’t a day really for the teams at the top of the division - accept Braintree Town of course!

Stopping leaders Dartford in their tracks, there’s no shortage of Concord Rangers involvement in team selection.

We also reward players who keep the free-scorers at bay, like those at Bath City and Hemel, who recorded great clean sheets against Truro and Hampton respectively.

Our selection process is made but gather information from people on the ground - managers, club officials and reporters who attend the games.

Have we missed anyone out who shone on Saturday? Get in touch on twitter and let us know @TheNationalLge

Goalkeeper: Louis Wells (Concord Rangers)
Pulled off a number of fine saves as Concord halted Dartford’s good winning run at the Aspect Arena.

Defender: Michael Kelly (Bath City)
It takes a lot to stop Truro City and their talented band of attackers finding the net. Kelly stood out at Twerton Park.

Defender: Tom Bonner (Dartford)
They may not have been able to come away from Essex with three points but Bonner withstood all Concord could throw at Dartford.

Defender: Joe Howe (Hemel Hempstead)
Not many sides stop Hampton from scoring, especially at home. Howe stood up as Hemel were counted at the Beveree.

Defender: Jordan Brown (Concord Rangers)
A strong defensive performance against the league leaders underlined Brown’s improvement, and Concord’s too.

Midfielder: Layne Eadie (St Albans City)
Outstanding for the Saints and Chelmsford came unstuck at St Albans. A fine finish capped a Man of the Match display.

Midfield: Billy Crook (Braintree Town)
His team-mates’ hat-trick may have grabbed the headlines but a lot about the 4-0 win over East Thurrock was down to their one-goal man,.

Midfielder: Tristan Plummer (Weston-super-Mare)
Scored and impressed at the Seagulls continue to sail away from the bottom three. Same can’t be said of opponents Gloucester City.

Striker: Jimmy Muitt (Bognor Regis)
His two goals for Bognor down at Whitehawk could mean a lot come the end of the season - it was a game the Rocks couldn’t afford to lose.

Striker: Elliott Romain (Welling United)
Excellent, regardless of if he is credited with the Wings’ final goal, his second of the game, against Eastbourne Borough or not.

Striker: Reece Grant (Braintree Town)

Walks into the team thanks to his fantastic three goals against East Thurrock United as the Iron closed the gap on Dartford.

Substitutes:
Ed Palmer (Truro City)
Tarik Moore-Azille (St Albans City)
Tom Bradbrook (Welling United)
Ryan Worrall (Whitehawk)
Matt Paterson (Oxford City)
