Welcome to our new feature where we pick out the outstanding 16 players of Saturday and throw them all together to make the Team of the Weekend.

Our team select a starting XI as well as the substitutes - you always need a strong bench and our side is no different!

We’re creating a dream team from each of the National League divisions so everyone can keep tabs on the progress of the players across all three leagues.

It was a brilliant weekend of action in the National League so here’s our squad who deserve recognition for their efforts and we tell you why they’ve made the cut.

Goalkeeper: Dan Hanford (Gateshead)
Helped keep Tranmere Rovers at bay as Gateshead earned their fifth consecutive clean sheet.

Defence: Jimmy Dunne (Barrow)
Scored a stunning goal at one end and made two goal-line clearances at the other to move Barrow out of the relegation zone.

Defence: Richard Orlu (Woking)
The Woking captain used his experience to marshal a youthful defence, that included 17-year-old academy goalkeeper Sam Mason.

Defence: George Fowler (Aldershot)
The on-loan Ipswich Town centre-back was pivotal in keeping out improving Hartlepool United which gave the Shots a perfect away day.

Defence: Mark Carrington (Wrexham)
The 30-year-old's versatility came good again as he filled in superbly at the unfamiliar role of left-back as Wrexham kept their eleventh clean sheet of the season.

Midfield: Kenny Davis (Sutton)
The combative midfielder had a hand in all three Sutton goals to see-off battling FC Halifax Town.

Midfield: Akil Wright (Wrexham)
Gave Wrexham drive in midfield, kept the ball moving and was his usual busy self to help regain possession.

Midfield: Luke Howell (Dagenham & Redbridge)
Scored a crucial late winner to complete Dagenham's comeback against Guiseley to put John Still's side back on track.

Striker: Danny Rowe (AFC Fylde)
Two goals in Fylde's win over Torquay United moved this deadly striker to the top of the National League goal scoring chart.

Striker: Chris Holroyd (Wrexham)
Netted a brace to keep Wrexham within touching distance of leaders Dover Athletic.

Striker: Ross Lafayette (Sutton)
A handful as usual for the Halifax defence and bagged two goals for his efforts.
