Taylor Made For Moors As Striker Stays Until 2021

Glen Taylor says he had no hesitation extending his Spennymoor Town stay - and doesn’t regret turning down full-time football for a minute.

Despite interest from elsewhere, the National League North club have announced the 21-goal striker is staying.

Taylor, 28, commits until 2021 by which time he will be closing in on a decade at the Moors.

He told the club’s website: “It’s a brilliant club, but I ultimately made the decision due to happiness.

“I have a nice balance at the minute with my family, my job as a teacher and obviously playing at the club.

“The squad here are a great set of lads and it’s a brilliant dressing room to be a part of. In the end it was an easy decision for me.

“I could have potentially gone on and played full-time football, and as a young boy your dream is to become a pro footballer, but for me, being nearly 29, happiness comes before the status of being able to say you are a professional footballer.

“Moving on to a full-time contract would have changed a lot of my life as I would have had to give up my job and relocate. My wife has a good job too, so everything just felt right to stay here.”
