But he told the club’s video service that although his side eventually recorded a comfortable victory, he was far from satisfied with the overall performance.
“First half today I thought they were probably the better side,” he said. “We defended really well, our shape was good again, but I think in the transition from defence to attack, we weren’t quite aggressive enough again.
“We needed to be a little bit more incisive when we regained the ball and we were a little bit slow, a little bit lethargic – we were just that little bit sloppy in possession during the first half but defensively we were fantastic.”
He added, “Second-half we came out the blocks brilliantly and got two corners within the first minute, got the goal and then got the third. From that point on, we were perfect.
“Our balance today of our overall performance wasn’t great, we got it right both defensively and attacking for a little bit and then for the last bit, defensive wise we weren’t brilliant but in attack we stayed on it.
“It definitely wasn’t a complete performance but most importantly, to get the three points was excellent against a good footballing side.
"We’ll look at the positives and hopefully this time next week we can give you a complete performance against Chippenham.”
