Stringer Warns Clarets They Must Improve For Run-In

Rod Stringer has demanded more from his Chelmsford City side despite seeing them return to winning ways on Monday.

The Clarets beat Essex rivals Concord Rangers 1-0 and now sit just a point outside the play-off zone with a game in hand over most of their rivals.

It was a welcome result after three away games without a win - including two defeats - but Stringer isn’t getting carried away.

The boss was honest with his side and said they could have easily dropped points against stronger opposition.

“I felt we were always in control of the game but once we had scored early on, I expected us to go on and that’s a disappointment,” Stringer told BBC Essex Sport.

“At 1-0 it was anybody’s game and you can easily drop two points like we have done this season.

“At this time of year it’s about results not performances and the result takes us back in where we want to be. I’m happy with the points but we’ve got to be better.

“My expectation levels are quite high. We needed to get back to winning ways and we did but we made things difficult for ourselves.”
