The Clarets climbed to the summit of the division following two wins over the Bank Holiday weekend as St Albans City failed to win their seventh game in a row, losing 1-0 at Braintree Town.
Both sides lead the way on 18 points with Chelmsford just ahead on goal difference.
Now they'll be hoping to remain at the top come 5pm tomorrow following their home game against Bognor Regis Town.
“Games become more difficult when you are top as St Albans City will have realised," said Stringer, who is in his second season as City boss.
“Bognor will look to play football. We are back on our own turf and we aim to get the three points again. Every game this season will be tough."
"You have to earn your rights, if you don’t get enough possession of the ball and make mistakes then after ninety minutes it boils down to that.”
