Striker Switches To League Rivals And Neighbours

Chippenham Town have announced the signing of Nick McCootie from league rivals and neighbours Bath City.

The powerful striker joined Bath in September 2014 from vo-Stik League South West side Paulton Rovers.

Following spells with Taunton Town, Bridgwater Town and Cinderford Town, the 27-year old moved to Winterfield Road in June 2012.

He enjoyed two successful seasons with the club, culminating in scoring both goals against Merthyr Town in the 2013/14 play-off final to send Paulton into the Southern Premier.

Although he struggled with a number injuries, he scored 14 goals - including in both legs of the Buildbase FA Trophy semi-final - in thirty-seven appearances.

He continued to dogged by minor injuries during the 2015/16 season but during the latter stages of the campaign began to show signs he was overcoming these issues and it was no surprise when Bath offered him a new deal for the 2016/17 season.

Has made over 100 appearances for the Romans, scoring 32 goals.

Manager Mark Collier told the club`s official Pitchero website: “Nick has been on the radar for some time now, so I am particularly happy that we have managed to secure a deal to bring him to Hardenhuish Park. He will certainly bring another dimension to us and has a proven track record at National League South level.”

McCootie will be in tomorrow’s matchday squad if the relevant paperwork is ratified by the FA and National League.
