Strevens Hopes Set-Back Won’t Derail Eastleigh Job Hunt

Ben Strevens doesn’t think Saturday’s defeat to Aldershot has hampered his chances of getting the Eastleigh job.

The stand-in manager has thrown his hat into to the ring.

He wants to replace Andy Hessenthaler, who returned to Dover Athletic last week despite the Spitfires’ great form.

Eastleigh are looking for their sixth manager since the summer of 2016 and Strevens wants to be the next boss in the hot-seat.

But it wasn’t the start they wanted - a 2-1 home loss to the Shots was the first Hampshire derby defeat the club has tasted.

He said: “It’s a really big appointment for the club, I understand that.

“Is think there must have been 50 managers in the stands watching the game!

“But I really do think I’m the best man for the job. I know the club well and the players know me.

“I’m young but I’m hungry. I hope I am given the opportunity to take the club forward.”
