Stones Target Remains The Same

Jay Saunders isn't thinking about anything else other than reaching the 50-point safety mark with Maidstone United.

Alex Finney's 95th minute winner against Chester boosted the Stones up to fifth - watch match highlights here.

Maidstone are just four points behind leaders Dover Athletic, having played a game less, in their second season in the Vanarama National League.

But with 29 points on the board from 17 games, Saunders isn't changing his targets.

He said: "I didn't think the breakthrough was going to come to be honest. I thought we were the better side and deserved the win but when the ball hits the post and then the keeper is laying on the floor and it goes straight into his hands you don't think it's going to be your day.

"Chester came here and set their stall out. They were dangerous on the break and from set pieces.

"You see the relief of the players and fans in the celebration. It's been frustrating at home lately. All the time we're doing well in the league, teams are going to come here and setup to be hard to beat.

"My priority has been and remains that we get to 50 points, get to safety and then look at where we go. Whatever happens that's our aim."
