Stones Talks Start As Watt Confirms He's Keen On The Job

Maidstone United have begun the interview process as they start the search for Jay Saunders’ replacement.

Caretaker manager Steve Watt has already confirmed he would like the job on a full-time basis.

The National League club says they have received more than 50 applications since advertising the role.

The club have lost their last four games but Watt says he would be honoured to lead the Stones forward.

Some big names have been linked but it appears that Watt will be in charge for Saturday’s game with Salford City.

He said: “I’m in constant contact with the owers and we will see where things go. This is a wonderful club and clearly there will be a lot of interest in the job.

“It’s something I would like to take on but a lot of other managers will as well.”

In Watt's two games in charge, Maidstone have lost 1-0 to both Gateshead and Sutton United.
