Wealdstone’s emphatic 5-0 win over Weston-super-Mare had fans wondering if it was their best performance under the manager.
The convincing away day win moved the Stones to within two points of the National League South play-off places.
Wilkinson told the club’s audio service that upping the heat on the rest is now the only way forward.
He said: “We had to go to Weston and make a statement and unfortunately for them they were just in our way.
“Our team-talk before the game was a long one - we told them that this is the one where we really close that gap to the teams above us and we did it.
“What we’ve done now is bring Bath City a little bit closer, Welling a little bit closer and Chelmsford that little bit closer.
“If you can’t finish first you finish second, if you can’t finish second you finish third. You have always got to aim to be the highest you possibly can.
“We’re no different. We’ve got some big games coming up now but they’re all big games going forward - and that’s because we have made them into big games.”
Wealdstone now host top seven rivals Welling United this weekend.
