Stones: Saunders Is Staying Put At The Gallagher Stadium

Maidstone United are the latest club to release a statement confirming their manager is staying put.

Following Ebbsfleet United’s decision to go public over the future of Daryl McMahon, Maidstone have moved to quash speculation that Jay Saunders is leaving.

The club’s former player has established the Stones in Non-League’s top flight and despite his most difficult season to date that has stopped interest in him.

But Maidstone aren’t keen to do business with long-serving Saunders happy at the Gallagher Stadium.

They, like Kent rivals Fleet, say their manager will remain in place next season.

“Over the past day or so, there has been rumour and speculation over the future of our manager Jay Saunders,” chief executive Bill Williams told the club’s website.

“To put an end to that, I can confirm that Jay is committed to Maidstone United and will be continuing the role he’s had with the club since 2011.

“We are all looking forward to what is going to be a very exciting season and Jay, along with his management team of Steve Watt and Harrison Grant, are busy preparing their pre-season programme and looking to add players to the existing squad.”
