Then 24 hours later, his team produced their first National League win since August 26 - and came from behind to do it.
The Stones defeated Braintree Town 3-2 on Wednesday to take three points for the first time in almost 60 days.
Taylor accepted his players needed a little support with no end in sight to their horror run - so put in an important phone call.
“A friend of mine came over from America and delivered an outstanding psychology session to the players on Tuesday,” he said after last night’s game which was flipped by two-goal Sam Ashford.
“He was in the dressing room today and he seemed to galvanise the group. I won’t go into too much detail but what it’s done is maybe put a few of the players at ease.
“We understand that we can only control what we do and not what the opposition do. It takes big heart and desire to win the game after being 2-1 down, and after Saturday. It was a vital victory.”
Encouragement from the terraces helped too and Taylor says the stage is set for a huge match in their season this weekend.
“The fans could see their unwavering belief, and clapped the team off at half-time despite being behind,” he went on.
“We’ve had some rotten luck so far this season but this is an import moment in our season. We need to carry in forward.
“It takes us into a massive game at Ebbsfleet on Saturday. We have to reproduce the energy levels,” he told the club’s YouTube channel.
