Still Pleased With Grafting Bees As They End Poor Start

But manager John Still said he was more pleased with his players work rate and application – admitting that if his side had drawn the game, he would still be pleased.

It’s been a tough start to life back in non-league for the Bees, but Still said he thought his side had been unlucky in previous games and they showed what they are capable of after the win.

He told the club’s official website, “the games previous I thought we’d done enough to win but we didn’t. But we’ve come today and done the thing that I think has been missing – we’ve worked hard.

“Everybody worked their socks off. The fact that we’ve won is brilliant but if we’d have drawn I would still be saying the same. They’ve all done what we expect them to do.

“Everyone ran, challenged and pressed. If you do that and you’re good players, you end up a good team.

“It’s a win and I’m delighted with the performance. We’ve shown today what we can do but there’s a lot of hard work still to be done but we’ve taken a big step today.”

Barnet have a chance to make it back-to-back wins as they welcome Dagenham and Redbridge to the Hive on Monday.
