St Ledger Says Lions Showed Fighting Spirit In Late Win

Guiseley interim boss Sean St Ledger says his side's win against Hartlepool United was just reward for the hard work they have put in during the past few weeks.

A Dayle Southwell goal with moments to go ensured that Guiseley picked up their first away win of 2018, writes Tom Feaheny.

"Last minute goals are always the best, it was much deserved to me, we had chances, they caused us problems but the whole squad was fantastic," St Ledger said.

"I'm just really pleased for the players, the hard work that went into the game, the confidence you get is from winning matches.

"I thought the pitch helped us, it was a bit greasy, we were composed at times, more so than Friday, I'm just over the moon for the players, the hard work the players have put in was rewarded."

On a cold and wet Easter Monday, the Guiseley fans who made the journey got their reward at the end with St Ledger praising them and saying they will keep fighting.

"The fans have been fantastic with us, to come all this way that was for them, they are the heart and soul of this club.

"We will keep going, two homes games in a row, with that performance, we can win those matches."
