St Albans City's Mental Scars Need To Heal Quickly

St Albans City manager Ian Allinson wants his players to take their Harrogate Town frustration out on Eastbourne Borough this weekend.

The Saints came unstuck in an uncharacteristic collapse in the FA Trophy on Tuesday night.

Going down 5-0 in the replay, it wasn’t the performance their manager was expecting in Yorkshire.

Allinson expects are reaction to the heavy defeat and to keep their National League South play-off push in order.

He doesn’t feel his players will show mental scars thrashing sometimes bring and wants his players to heal quickly after what went on in midweek.

After losing on Harrogate’s 3G pitch they now go to play on Eastbourne’s - and the boss said they need to adapt.

“It was a long and difficult trip back and it gave us plenty of thinking time,” said Allinson.

“Nobody likes losing games, and to lose 5-0 was very hard to take. We need to move on from what happened and make sure we channel our frustration in the right way and get the result at Eastbourne.

“It’s another 3G pitch but it will be a different game. We were frail at Harrogate and we haven’t seen that type of performance since we went on a bad run last season.

“The best way to get over a defeat like we suffered in the Trophy is to win your next game.”
