It’s been a summer of upheaval after long term backer Stewart Donald resigned from the club’s board.
He left the Spitfires to take on the challenge of resurrecting fallen giants Sunderland.
But Donald clearly hasn’t forgotten the club, and allowed Polish goalkeeper Max Stryjek to join them on loan after Graham Stack’s sudden retirement.
The Black Cats keeper saved Chike Kandi’s first half penalty which allowed Alex Wynter to win the game for Eastleigh in the final minute.
Manager Andy Hessenthaler was delighted with the debutant, who signed on loan on Friday.
“It was a wonderful debut for him,” he said. “It was great to get a goalkeeper of that calibre and thanks to Sunderland we have been able to do it.
“Credit has got to do to Ross Flitney our goalkeeping coach as well. When it comes to penalty kick he advises Max - it was a crucial save at an important time.
“We are improving defensively and we feel we have the goals in us to move up the table.
“It as important to get that win, we needed it.
“It was a difficult game against a side who have really picked up so it’s just what we needed.”
