Spireites To Roll Out Red Carpet For Brave Supporter Will

One brave, young Chesterfield fan will be given a day to remember this Saturday at the Proact Stadium.

Ten-year-old Will Downes will be the guest of honour for the Spireites' clash with Dagenham & Redbridge.

The youngster has a condition known as Adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD), a rare, inherited brain disease that affects one in 20,000 men.

Will is to be the club's guest-of-honour this weekend and will attend the game with his sister Ella and parents Emma and Chris who will be given the full VIP treatment by the Derbyshire-based club.

After meeting his heroes whilst in hospital over Christmas, Will has the honour of leading out John Sheridan's against the Daggers.

"When we learned about young Will's plight, we wanted to do something to give him and his family a day to remember," the club's chief executive Graham Bean said.

"It is heart-breaking to hear about what they are going through and we will certainly do what we can to help them."

Will's mum, Emma added: "It's great. Will loves his football so he's very excited about going on the pitch and meeting the players again."
