Spireites Name Their Skipper Ahead Of The New Season

Martin Allen has taken to the Spireites’ website again – this time to announce the club’s new captain for the coming season.

Robbie Weir is the man who will be taking the armband at the Proact Stadium.

Allen informed supporters online, saying: “It's been three weeks now since we all started back at training and over the three weeks, it's given me the opportunity on a daily basis to get to know all the characters and personalities of all our players and staff.

“Amongst our squad, we have seven players that could most definitely be captain and lead our squad on and off the field to be successful, so it's been a tough decision.

“We have decided that Robbie Weir will be our captain and he will represent us on and off the field. I am absolutely certain that he will do a great job.”

Chesterfield begin their National League campaign against Ebbsfleet United on August 4.
