Jason Ainsley, the team boss, didn’t expect 12 points from 15 available. But he did know his team has the talent to achieve something this season.
Spennymoor beat Boston United 3-0 on Tuesday night. The result was enough to take them into fourth place – just behind leaders Brackley, second place Harrogate and South who are in third.
Pilgrims manager Adam Murray said the Moors we “like a machine gun” last night.
Ainsley was just happy to get another win on the board and said: “It was a really good night for us, I was so happy to give the fans a clap at the end.
“We may not travel in our thousands, but the 45 or 50 of them that came down are seeing us win matches at this level – it’s fantastic.
“I thought we would do well this season, we’ve got a great group of players, but I didn’t think we would have won four from five. It’s been a difficult start, too.”
He added: “But I don’t want us to have a good start then fade away. We want to keep putting in these type of performances for as long as we can.”
They face Salford City on Saturday afternoon, kick off 3pm.
