Having been in and around the first-team group since the age of 14, big things are expected of the fresh-faced midfielder who plays with a maturity beyond his tender years.

“Getting my first senior goal was a really special and proud moment for me and my family,” he said. “It’s also nice to become the youngest scorer for the club and hopefully more will follow for me now.

“I felt that I was able to get into the game straight away and was involved in the build-up to the goal with my first touch.

“As a young player trying to make his mark I have to go out there with no fear when I get my chance and be able to show what I can do. There’s no point holding anything back, I have to give it my all to make the most of the opportunity.

“My aim is to get a starting place and then establish myself in the team. The Gaffer is brilliant because if you perform well you will get your chance regardless of your age. It gives me and the rest of the youngsters here motivation.

“Now I have had a taste of it, I want more. The rest of the lads have been great with me and have passed on their experience, be it in game situations or in rest and recovery.

“They’ve also given me the confidence to have a voice within the team because it can be difficult for a 16-year-old to tell someone what to do who is maybe ten years or more older than me, but they have encouraged me and it has really helped my game.

“I’d like to be involved in the next game, but the main thing is that whoever is picked we go out there and get three more points. The performance against Leamington showed what this team is capable of and everyone has a role to play within it.

“There is a lot of confidence in the changing room right now. The lads were buzzing after Leamington and hopefully it will be the same after the game against Alfreton Town on Saturday”.
