Something For The Weekend: National League South

By Sam Elliott

It’s a huge extended weekend in the National League South - will we know a little more about the situation at both ends by the end of Easter?

There’s so much football on the schedule with eight games on Good Friday and three on the Saturday.

There will be full programme on Monday so with a grand total of 66 points to play for, what are the crucial games over the next few days?

Leaders Havant still hold a two point advantage but Dartford are breathing down their necks but with Weston at home and Whitehawk away over the next four days, Lee Bradbury knows there’s a chance for the Hawks to stretch their legs.

If they do, the pressure will be put on the challenges - two of which meet at Princes Park.

We will be bringing full coverage all the games over Easter so make sure you are following @TheNationalLge

Dartford v Hampton

This game could tell us so much as the race for the title really heats up. It’s a game neither of these sides can afford to lose.

The Darts are back in the swing, their big win at in-form Oxford City last weekend kept them two points behind leaders Havant. Back-to-back wins has confident high.

Hampton captain Josh Casey says his team “owe Dartford one” for them coming back from the dead to grab a point at the Beveree and the Beavers know the importance of carrying that through

Poole Town v Whitehawk

Tom Killick’s team know that this is a must-win game - there’s no other option.

Poole are in a perilous position, five points shy of safety having played a game more than their relegation rivals. It’s crunch time.

Whitehawk won’t give up until it’s over, and showed that last weekend against Concord Rangers. They are 15 points from safety and don’t plan on going down without a fight.

Truro City v Hemel Hempstead

When it comes to the National League South play-offs, nobody is safe.

If you class third place Hampton as in, it’s not inaccurate to suggest there are seven clubs looking to secure the final four places. Every match counts and no sides can afford a bad run.

Truro and Hemel have been in the promotion places for the vast majority of campaign and for the winner the prize is distance between themselves and eighth place. Truro are good at home while Hemel have lost only once since February 10.

Bognor Regis v Chelmsford City

Havant v Weston
Poole Town v Whitehawk
Truro City v Hemel Hempstead
