So What’s In Store In The National League South On Saturday?

By Sam Elliott

The action comes thick and fast as part three of the festive football feast is served up. Who will say goodbye to 2018 in style?

What of Billericay Town’s title chances after a miserable Christmas?

In their two games over the period they have not only lost twice but let in nine goals. Dean Brennan says he won’t give up but they need to make a statement at St Albans City.

Leaders Torquay United look like they will take some stopping under Gary Johnson.

Dropping only two points in their last eight games, the toppers of the form guide host the team sitting bottom of it - Gloucester City won’t just cause the shock of this season by winning at Plainmoor, but surely of many.

Could a win for either Welling United or Concord Rangers put pressure on the leaders?

The third and fourth placed team collide at Park View Road and the winner will be full of confidence going into 2019.

Woking are two points off the leaders with two games in hand and Alan Dowson knows his side just need to keep on winning. They welcome an Eastbourne Borough side who haven’t been travelling well.

Wealdstone badly need to get back on track. The 3-0 home loss to Slough Town saw the Stones slip further off the pace. They are at home to Oxford City, a side who occupy a play-off place that they want.

Dulwich fans waited over eight months to play a home game and now they have two inside a few days. Slough are up next at Champion Hill for Gavin Rose’s team.

Chelmsford’s season is stop-start and Rod Stringer needs consistency. After battering Billericay on Boxing Day can they follow that up with victory at home to Hemel?

Weston-super-Mare have spent all of the season at the bottom but could that change on Saturday? They are at home to Bath City while East Thurrock have a difficult game with Dartford.

There’s a big one down the bottom. Hungerford, who are still in relegation spots, welcome Truro City - the White Tigers four points above the drop zone and much could depend on this result.

Hampton
and Chippenham are unlikely to be involved in the dogfight and either side can move into the top half with three points in Wiltshire.
