So What's In Store In The National League South On Saturday?

By Sam Elliott

We’re now officially entering the business end of the National League South season - and every game counts.

This weekend see a selection of fixtures which could tells us plenty about the race for the title, the play-off chase and the battle to avoid the drop.

Torquay United have won 12 of their last 13 league games. If they’re going to be stopped, they need to be stopped soon!

Could Welling United follow in Bath City's footsteps by beating the leaders? The Gulls are at Park View Road and Torquay’s rivals have hope - Steve King’s men have won seven from their last eight at home. Could we see a title twist coming this weekend?

If Welling can do the business then Woking must take advantage and win at home to Weston-super-Mare.

Although outsiders, in-form Chelmsford could still be in contention - if they overcome East Thurrock and win for the eighth time in nine games then you can very much count Rod Stringer’s team in it.

Bath City need a lot to go their way, but victory at Concord Rangers - who themselves require a win to up their play-off chances - would keep them in touch.

Billericay have been much better since Harry Wheeler returned and a late-season surge could be on the cards. Those above the Blues may begin to worry if they do the business at home to Eastbourne Borough.

There’s a big play-off battle at Grosvenor Vale as Wealdstone take on St Albans City. Both are just outside the top seven.

Chippenham welcome a Hungerford side who slaughtered the Saints 5-0 last time out.

There is likely to be yet another 2,000+ attendance as Dulwich Hamlet welcome Hemel Hempstead to Champion Hill.

Slough Town’s joint manager Jon Underwood say his team weren’t good enough against Gloucester on Tuesday and with promotion hunting Dartford visiting on Saturday they “must be a lot better”.

Truro City, meanwhile, face out-of-form Oxford City who have lost five of their last six after a great end to 2018.

Gloucester’s form is so much better since Mike Cook came in. They’re at Hampton looking to move out of the bottom three.
