So What's In Store In The National League On Tuesday Night?

By Sam Elliott

There’s no rest for the wicked! Matchday 13 in the National League is upon us on Tuesday night.

What a start it’s been to the new campaign. Saturday saw huge matches, new leaders, movement at the bottom and just one undefeated side left standing.

So what’s on offer in midweek’s programme?

Well like the weekend, we’ve got the meeting of two very in-form teams.

Hartlepool United, undefeated in six, go to title favourites Salford City - a side who have won seven of their last nine games.

“It’s already looking like a big game and we can’t wait,” said Ammies manager Graham Alexander.

But Leyton Orient will think they’ve got every chance of keeping hold of the leadership they earned in Yorkshire at the weekend.

Justin Edinburgh takes his team to bottom side Braintree - and it looks like they will be backing by three quarters of the crowd at Cressing Road.

There’s another massive match in store at the CNG Stadium. Second plays third as Harrogate Town look to set the record straight after losing so badly to Orient. They come up against Wrexham - who also come into the game on the back of a 3-0 defeat. They were undone at Sutton United and manager Sam Ricketts wants the whole club to re-focus.

Both Aldershot and Maidstone United grabbed crucial wins at the weekend. Whoever comes out on top of their meeting in Hampshire will fire themselves clear of the bottom four.

Gateshead earned plaudits for the ruthless way they took Chesterfield apart on Saturday.

Now they go to Barrow, who are a lot stronger at home than they were last season under the stewardship of Ian Evatt.

Dover Athletic need results and fast and Chris Kinnear couldn’t have wished for a must worse game on Tuesday - they go to a Sutton side who have just put three past Wrexham.

FC Halifax were brave on Saturday but their poor run goes on. They will be desperate to put that right at home to AFC Fylde, who aren’t as strong on the road as they are at home.

Ebbsfleet need a home win. Just one so far isn’t enough, but they face a battered and bruised Bromley side whose ego took a pounding at Solihull.

Another manager who says his supporters are being short changed is Martin Allen.

Chesterfield, winless since mid-August, simply must beat Maidenhead at the Proact to get their season back on a level footing.

Eastleigh and Boreham Wood lock horns, while the Solihull Moors fans say ‘more of the same please’ after their 5-0 win over Bromley. Much improved Dagenham won’t lie down for them, however.

Barnet and Havant & Waterlooville meet at the Hive both on the back of 1-1 draws at the weekend.
