Smith Is An Imp As Wood's No1 Leaves For Lincoln City

Grant Smith have become the latest National League player to move into the Football League.

The Boreham Wood goalkeeper has signed for 2017 champions Lincoln City.

His performances last season helped take the club into the National League Promotion Final, where they eventually lost to Tranmere Rovers at Wembley.

But like Rovers, he will be playing in League Two next season as Danny Cowley today secured his signature.

He also made the National League Team of the Season for his performances between the posts for Luke Garrard’s team.

A Boreham Wood statement confirmed a deal had been reached with Lincoln.

“Grant was a fans favourite and he would be the first to acknowledge the part we have played in his improvement over the last 24 months,” it read.

“So, it was perhaps fitting that his last game for us was at Wembley Stadium, in the recent Promotion Final.

“Grant leaves our football club with the thanks and best wishes of the dressing room, staff and supporters, following two excellent seasons at Meadow Park.”
