The 29-year-old's three goals inspired the Ravens to a 3-1 win over Torquay United, Williams' former club, on Tuesday night.
Smith's side returned to winning ways after a four-game dry spell having started the season so positively.
Williams' only other goal this season came in the 6-1 hammering of Leyton Orient, and now his manager wants the goals to flow.
"We thoroughly deserved that win. Brett Williams was amazing," he said. "We know he can do that which is why I signed him. He was lacking a bit of confidence but you saw the player I signed.
"I hope it's not just against Torquay because I need it against Solihull but I'm so pleased for him. He's been doing extra training and working hard to get that confidence back.
"We've been learning together, unfortunately learning the hard way by our mistakes. You try and tell people what they've got to do but until they go through that emotion that's when you come out the other side."
