After signing his first professional contract in 2014, Smith went on loan to Southport`s new league rivals Tamworth, making twenty-three appearances.

Shrewsbury-born Smith is eligible for Wales through his grandparents, and has represented the Welsh national side at under-19 and under-21 level.
