Shrewd Deals Will Serve Spireites Well Says Sheridan

John Sheridan thinks Chesterfield are almost done with their transfer business this summer.

The Spireites are fancied by many to mount a promotion charge after improving under the ex-Sheffield Wednesday player last season.

With six new additions so far, Sheridan is confident he has almost plugged the gaps.

“I’m very pleased," he told the Sheffield Star. “I knew who I was letting go, the positions I needed to fill, so you identify those players and luckily I’ve got one or two in.

“There’s still one or two more I need - striker and a bit of pace wide, they’re the two areas I’m looking at."

Elsewhere, Sheridan has tipped new signing Anthony Gerrard to be an instant hit in the National League.

"I'm chuffed to bits to get him, I've had him a few times," he said of his capture of the 33-year-old.

"I think he'll be a massive plus for us, he's an excellent player - he'll be the best centre-half in this division, without a doubt."
