Sheridan's Spireites Rebuild In Full Swing As A Dozen Leave

John Sheridan has wasted no time starting his Chesterfield rebuild ahead of what he hopes will be a big season for the Spireites.

The club have announced their retained list and a number of names will be leaving the Proact next month.

Veteran Drew Talbot heads the list of no fewer than 12 players to depart.

Jerome Binnom-Williams, Marc Antoine-Fortune, Michael Nelson and Kyel Reid will also be looking for new clubs in the summer.

However Robbie Weir, Charlie Wakefield and Jonathan Smith are set to stay in Derbyshire a little while longer.

Boss John Sheridan praised the attitude of the players since his arrival but said decisions had to be made.

"There were some tough decisions because the lads have done really well since we came in," he told the club's official website. "But when you're a manager, you've got to make these decisions.

“We appreciate everything the players have done and they all played a part. Not one of them gave me a problem so I respect them for that. Hopefully they’ll all go on to have success and play for as long as they can."
