Sheridan: Sorry Spireites Must Buck Up Their Ideas

Chesterfield manager John Sheridan said FA Trophy defeat to holders Brackley Town has opened his eyes to a few things.

Sheridan was far from happy as his new side crashed out at home to the National League North side.

Chesterfield are in the National League’s bottom four and he says he knows his players didn’t do enough to lift spirits and remain in the competition.

Sheridan has guided the club to Wembley success before, winning the 2014 EFL Trophy.

He says the class of 2019 have missed a big opportunity to do something special.

“No where near good enough,” he bluntly told the Derbyshire Times.

“It wasn’t the performance I expected from us. I’m not hiding, there are no excuses.

“We were really poor. I could talk all day. I could have been in the dressing rooms all day.

“It must have been difficult for the supporters watching a game like that.”
