The Spireites won 3-1 at Braintree, a result which hauls the club seven points away from the bottom four.
But the new manager was far from happy with what he watched after half-time.
He said he won’t let standards slip and it was a match his team should have put bed long before they did.
“I’ve just had a go at them for the second half performance,” he told the club’s website following victory at Cressing Road.
“We were 2-0 up at half-time and we were comfortable. They get the goal and they’re back in the game.
“We should have gone on to win the game 4 or 5 nil.
“I’ll be hard with them and I have to be hard with them. The three points was the most important thing but we made it very hard for ourselves with the way we played in the second half.”
It was Sheridan’s fifth victory in charge already, having replaced Martin Allen with the club in the bottom four. They face Eastleigh next this weekend.
