Replacing a manager is Billy Heath who took the club into the league last May was never going to be easy, but with form non existent it seemed a big job.
But it appears Jamie Fullerton has taken the shortest amount of time ever to win a relegation battle.
Since arriving at the Shay, the team have taken ten points from a possible 12. They are now ten points from safety and almost certain to earn a second season in Non-League football’s top flight.
On Tuesday night arrived the moment that signalled a corner has well a truly been turned.
Fresh from a 3-1 win at Woking, the Shaymen went 1-0 down to Dagenham and it seemed they would need to keep looking over their shoulders.
But back they came after two goals inside two minutes confirmed three points - and possibly their National League place for 2018-19.
“Great credit has to go to the boys,” Fullarton said to Shaymen TV. “They never cease to surprise me because, under different circumstances tonight, going 1-0 down, they were so resilient, in the second-half.
“I think I’ve stated clearly on numerous occasions, in every game, we’re looking to go and try and win the game.
“I think you can see by the fans reaction, of the performance as well as the result, it was a very pleasing night.
“The boys understand that the most important aspect of the game is getting the three points and it’s maintaining our league status,” he added.
“As we move on and we progress, it’s not when you win, it’s how you win. It’s an entertainment business. I think tonight they were glimpses and signs of that.
“Don’t get me wrong, there were many aspects that we’re looking to build on and progress, but again, I think everyone’s going home happy.”
